You would have heard that all best things in this world/life are free but do you know there are a few things in this world that are free only for the ‘do-gooders.’
This is coming from a recent incident when we were looking to buy the desktop version of Balsamiq, a wireframing tool, and we got to know that Balsamiq supports philanthropic or humanitarian causes. Balsamiq sometimes gives away free licenses to do-gooders.
We, at Niswey, practice Open Source advocacy and support various Open Source events and communities in India. We believe that code is not the only form through which you can contribute in this community. Our philosophy matched with Balsamiq’s. They also support Open Source and were very pleased with the way we evangelise Open Source and are active members of the community.
Our synergies of doing good matched perfectly and Balsamiq gave us 10 free desktop licenses. Yes, we know that’s cool!
So, this blog post is for those who say that the world is not a fair place. Thank you Balsamiq for proving them wrong. 🙂
