Letter to a Digital Marketer

May 15, 2019 by Suma EP

Dear friend,

In your one (or two or three…) years of work experience, you’ve scratched the surface of digital marketing, perhaps dabbled in some inbound marketing. Maybe you have worked in B2C, but there’s something about B2B that is calling to you. Maybe it’s terms like Account Based Marketing, or a love to work on complex funnels and growth flywheels using leading-edge marketing automation platforms.

I would like to stop you right there and ask: do you really feel the call? Or is it just a “it’ll look good on my CV” tactic?

Do you really feel you have it in you to “get” B2B and make things happen? Or is it just, I need a job so let me apply.

If it’s the latter, please don’t read further. You need a digital marketing job, but B2B needs commitment. Saved you some time right there.

If you’re still reading, well, hello!

By now, you probably know, we are looking for people with mettle. You would not write fake things on your CV. For example, you won’t claim expertise in Google Analytics that doesn’t exist. Like us, you also think there is no need to bloat things where none exist, and just say the truth.

Are you a learner? A fast one or a slow one? It doesn’t matter, as long as the hunger for learning is sustained. Learning is one of our values, and it is a non-negotiable.

Another of our values is Joy. It’s a rare concept one doesn’t hear of much in workplaces. But it is a universal truth that we can find joy in our work. And our company exists so we can be joyful. And while we are at it, we have fun too…parties, trips and dancing. Joy, and fun. Two different things, but key to Niswey. Does that resonate? Or make you curious?

Some time ago, I wrote a Letter to an Inbound Marketer. And I am going to quote from that. “At Niswey, we are building an inbound marketing team that is a force to reckon with. Because most of us are aspiring to be full-stack marketers, and that means we end up learning from each other a lot. So if you know some tricks and hacks, and are dying to gloat, I have a team that will cheer you and give you a +1 for it. And hound you to help them apply to their clients’ digital presence. While you do the same with their hacks and tips.”

It is still true. We are building teams that are forces to reckon with.

– An inbound marketing and account based marketing team.
– A martech team that is building products and integrations for the sales and marketing ecosystem.

We are growing, and need more force to join us.

If you’re still here, here’s my ask of you. Here are a couple of questions. Please send me your answers to them. Be as descriptive as you like. You can brag about what you have done in it. You can mention you have heard of it but not not done anything in it. Or if you’re interested in it.
