Where we are on the quest of being purposeful & holacratic

Couple of weeks back we had our mid-year goals review discussion. Unlike last year, where we had just 1 mid-year review, this year, thanks to Rajat, we are having continuous reviews and are in better control of our goals. As I read somewhere last year, setting up goals is just a small part of the job done, the more important part is setting up processes (or systems) that will help you achieve those goals. Although we did attain a lot last year, primarily due to people setting up their internal processes, this year, we are on track to achieve even more.

How?

      • We have our learnings from last year and know what works and what doesn’t.
      • Continuous reviews after every 2 months.
      • We understood that a lot of goals are just wishes (not goals actually) and in our sub conscious mind, we don’t even care if we want to achieve them.
      • We’ve got more people into the game, increasing the interest and responsibility to help each other.
      • People have started including their spouses, which increases accountability and support for them.
      • Most importantly, we can see when our teammate is low on motivation and then help him/her get back on track quickly.

All these and maybe some more (which are not so visible) have created a ripple effect. At the end of the day, we just have to make our efforts, the universe takes care of the rest! What I’ve realised in the last 18 months is that it is not just about achieving those goals, it’s more about the entire process. A process, which first makes you THINK, for yourself, and then motivates you to DO.

Interestingly, while last year the discussion happened between us, this year, we had alumni participating. Next year, who knows, we might open it up for everyone? If you’re interested to join us, in these discussions, do write to us, we’d love to hear your goals. And by the way, for those of you wondering why do we discuss personal/life goals in an organization? It’s a way to make Niswey a purposeful, holacratic organization.
